The Toronto Police Service is making the public aware of a an arrest made in a Retail Robbery investigation.

On Friday, March 8, 2024, at approximately 12:56 p.m., police responded to a robbery call in the Sheppard Avenue East and Neilson Road area.

It is alleged that:

  • a group of four male suspects entered a mall wearing masks to disguise their identities
  • one suspect was carrying a large sledgehammer
  • the suspects approached a jewellery store and forced open the door
  • one suspect entered the store and removed a quantity of jewellery
  • the suspects then fled the scene

Members of the Hold Up Squad began an investigation and were able to identify and arrest two of the three suspects.

On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the third suspect, Harun Ahmed Hussein, 19, of Toronto, was charged with:

  1. Robbery With Offensive Weapon
  2. Disguise With Intent
  3. Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over
  4. Fail to Comply with Release Order

He was scheduled to attend court on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, at 10 a.m., in room 107.
