NCCU Hosts 26th Annual First Lady Walk and Health Fair, April 1

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will celebrate the 26th Annual First Lady Walk and Health Fair on Saturday, April 1, 9 a.m., in the LeRoy T. Walker Physical Education and Recreation Complex, 617 Nelson St. The event is free to the public.

Hosted by Juanita Akinleye, a registered nurse and wife of NCCU Chancellor Johnson Akinleye; the NCCU Office of Community Engagement and Service; and the Alzheimer's Association, the family event was established to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices.

This year's theme, 'Healthy mind. Healthy body. Healthy life.,' will focus on aging, men's health and health disparities with opportunities, including a fundraising walk on the university trails,free health screenings, community partner booth displays, a kids zone activity area and refreshments.

Funds raised during the walk will support Eagle students in fulfilling the university's mission of 'Truth and Service' through community service projects, from alternative spring break trips to volunteer abroad programs.
