Battlefords RCMP's Gang Task Force seizes meth, cigarettes and firearms during search warrant

On March 24, 2024, Battlefords Gang Task Force executed two search warrants, one at a unit at a multi-dwelling complex and one at a residence, in North Battleford as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers located and seized approximately 1700 grams of methamphetamine, 28,000 illegal cigarettes, five firearms, ammunition, and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

A photo of the seized items is attached. An adult male and an adult female were arrested at the scenes of the search warrants.

44-year-old Shara Swindler from North Battleford is charged with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • three counts, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, Section 95(a), Criminal Code;
  • five counts, careless storage of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a firearm with tampered serial number, Section 108(1)(b), Criminal Code; and
  • six counts, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code.

47-year-old Sheldon Johnstone from North Battleford is charged with:

  • one count, carry a concealed weapon, Section 90, Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code; and
  • one count, obstruct a peace officer, Section 129, Criminal Code.

Shara Swindler and Sheldon Johnstone will appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on May 27, 2024.
