TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is proud to announce the success of the "Making Memories with Mom" events hosted at the Department's four female correctional institutions across the state. The event aimed to foster and promote positive relationships between incarcerated mothers and their children.

"Over 60 percent of the female population will be released by 2026 and return to their communities," said Florida Department of Corrections Female Services Administrator Yolanda Lanier. "Hosting events like "Making Memories with Mom" is crucial in building and maintaining strong parental bonds, which will help ease their transition back home to their families and children."

Participating in fun activities like decorating cookies and doing arts and crafts fosters relationships and enhances quality time. The program encourages positive interactions between staff, inmates' children, family members, and inmates, creating a supportive community environment.

FDC is committed to the well-being of all incarcerated individuals and understands the importance of maintaining family connections. FDC is excited to pursue and broaden the "Making Memories with Mom" program to provide more chances for meaningful interactions and help promote the emotional well-being of incarcerated and their loved ones.
