Hidroelectrica restored hydro-aggregate 5 from Portile de Fier I in operation

Today, March 4, 2024, Hidroelectrica completed the preparation and testing part for hydro-aggregate number 5 at Portile de Fier I Hydropower Plant and restored the technical objective in operation.

We remind you that on February 1, 2024, at around 20:30, Portile de Fier Hydropower Plant was affected by a fire at the transformer related to the aforementioned hydro-aggregate. The quick reaction of Hidroelectrica's employees as well as the efficiency of the fire teams allowed extinguishing the fire in record time, and the fact that there were no victims was an essential element in managing the situation.

"We are pleased to announce that hydro-aggregate 5 at Portile de Fier has successfully passed through all stages of tests, and today we resumed the operation of this unit. The hydro-aggregate is currently operating at low capacity but is gradually increasing its working power. This success would not have been possible without the commitment and constant effort of our team, who worked tirelessly to restore normal operating conditions and availability. We are talking about difficult works and maximum responsibility and I take the opportunity to thank especially the management of Portile de Fier Branch and Hidroserv specialists for their involvement and for the record time in which they put HA5 back into operation", declared Karoly Borbely - Hidroelectrica CEO.
