Rosen, Cortez Masto Announce Nearly $28 Million from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for Improvements at Harry Reid International Airport

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) announced that Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) will receive $27.8 million in grant funding through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to make infrastructure improvements to airport runways. These funds were made available thanks to the 2018 FAA reauthorization law that both senators helped pass.

"Harry Reid International Airport serves as the gateway to southern Nevada, bringing visitors from around the world who support our local economy," said Senator Rosen. "I was proud to help write the airports section of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which is delivering nearly $28 million to make improvements at the airport. By investing in our local travel and tourism industry, we are supporting our local economy and jobs."

"I'm glad to see these secured funds will help Harry Reid International Airport upgrade its critical infrastructure, support good-paying jobs, and keep taking our local economy to new heights," said Senator Cortez Masto. "These improvements will enhance the airport's efficiency and ensure the safety of airport workers and passengers alike, and I'll continue working to deliver essential resources to all our vital airports across the state."

Specifically, these funds will install water drainage systems along airport runways and repair airfield pavement to improve aircraft safety.

Senators Rosen and Cortez Masto have worked to ensure Nevada's airports receive their fair share of federal funding. As a lead author of the airports section of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that both senators voted to pass, Senator Rosen helped create the Airport Terminal Program to expand and rebuild airport terminals, which has already delivered $7 million for Reno-Tahoe International Airport and $31 million for Harry Reid International Airport. Senator Cortez Masto secured multiple transportation provisions in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that have already delivered more than $39 million to Nevada for clean school buses and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. In 2018, she passed her GREEN Vehicles at Airports Act that ensured that airports could use FAA program funding to purchase and support zero-emissions vehicles.
