Information Regarding Hurricane Ian

Hurricane Ian is expected to create some potential for flooding as the storm passes east of Norcross and possibly even strong winds. This could result in loss of power from downed trees.

As a Tree City and Platinum Green Community, the City of Norcross highly values sustainability and actively seeks to preserve and protect our community tree canopy. We work with a certified arborist on staff to ensure the health and safety of our trees and community, and, alongside Norcross Power, follow best practices for grooming trees away from the power lines to minimize the risk of outages. However, where there are trees and storms, the possibility for an outage will always exist, and so we've gathered together the following resources to help you in preparation for Hurricane Ian:

FEMA.gov | Hurricane Preparedness
Ready.gov | Preparing for Severe Weather
Ready.gov | Preparing for Power Outages
RedCross.org | How to Prepare for a Power Outage
NorcrossGA.net | Norcross Power
Norcross Power 24-Hour Hotline - 678-421-2069
Norcross Power 101 | (English PDF) (Spanish PDF)

The Gwinnett County Office of Emergency Management has shared the attached Severe Weather Awareness Statement with us regarding Hurricane Ian as of September 26, 2022. We will continue to monitor the situation, and updates will be sent if significant new information becomes available. Please be sure to register for city alerts at norcrossga.net/signup if you have not already done so and check the box next to "Emergency Alerts" (and "Norcross Power" if you are a power customer).
