Learn about Penticton’s climate action initiatives at Earth Day event

Join the City of Penticton and partner organizations on Saturday, April 20 to celebrate Earth Day and learn more about local climate action initiatives.

This event will take place at Gyro Park from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., running alongside the opening day of the Penticton Farmers' Market as well as a volunteer appreciation breakfast. This Earth Day event will kick off a series of events and activities taking place over the weekend and into Monday, on Earth Day.

"Penticton City Council declared a climate emergency in 2022 and have adopted ambitious targets to reduce our community's greenhouse gas emissions," says Mayor Julius Bloomfield. "This event will bring together local organizations and volunteers who are dedicated to making a difference in our community - and we invite all members of the public to come down to learn more about them - and to find out how you can get involved."

Event highlights

  • Find out how your multi-family building can register for a free EV-Ready Plan, Electrical Planning Report and Energy Audit.
  • Ride your bike to the event to register for free on-site with Project 529, conducted by the City's Bylaw team. This is a free program that helps reduce bike thefts and provides the ability to trace a bicycle if it does get stolen, bettering your chance of having it returned.

The City of Penticton adopted its Climate Action Plan in 2021 with the goal of reducing our community's emissions by a projected 40 per cent below 2007 levels by 2030. Efforts align with Council's priority of ensuring a livable and accessible city, committed to minimizing environmental impacts and adapting to climate change.
