Horsham District Council, working in partnership with Coden Events and Food Rocks, are pleased to introduce two new weekly markets in Horsham Town Centre, offering more trading opportunities for small businesses. The new markets will take place on Thursdays and Fridays this Spring.

Thursday Antiques and Collectables markets in West Street

A new Antiques and Collectables market, run by Coden Events, launches in West Street on Thursdays from 2 May in response to a growing local interest in antiques and upcycling of pre-loved items. It is anticipated that the markets will appeal to new and existing shop-based and online businesses looking for a new cost-effective channel to build their customer base.

Several local businesses in the area have already indicated their support for the venture, including Gobsmack Comics, Johanssons Café and Valsa Gelato.

Friday markets in the Carfax

Food Rocks are delighted to introduce a brand-new Friday market in the Carfax starting in March and featuring a mix of local produce, art and craft, clothing, homeware and some great street food. The market is being trialled weekly until the end of April with a view to making it a regular market if it proves popular with local shoppers.

The intention is for the market to run alongside the popular Friday Lates music and food events run in partnership with Horsham District Council, which returns to the Carfax at the start of June with a wonderful programme of music on the bandstand, global street food and refreshments.

The Council's Deputy Cabinet Member for Local Economy and Place Cllr Joanne Knowles commented: "With more and more people now working locally on Thursdays and Fridays, these days are seen to offer significant potential to attract more shoppers to the town centre.

"I am really pleased we are supporting up and coming businesses to become market traders. If you are starting out with a new business or want to expand your current business offering into a new channel, why not consider market trading?

"It is a great low-cost, low-risk way to test your business in a friendly, supportive trading environment with an already well- established high customer footfall. "

Both markets are extensions of successful market operations run with the backing of Horsham District Council. If you run a business, or know one, that would like the opportunity to trade in the heart of Horsham on either market please register your interest.
