Officers Recover a Loaded Firearm with an Extended Magazine in Dorchester

At about 10:18 PM, on Friday, April 19, 2024, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Tynigel Belgrave, 26, of Boston, on firearm related charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Washington Street and Erie Street when they observed a motor vehicle operating at a high rate of speed. Officers activated their cruiser's emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop. Officers advised the occupants of the stop, and observed the operator to not be wearing a seat belt. Officers observed in plain view, what they believed to be the grip of a firearm.

Officers requested the occupants to exit the vehicle, and conducted a pat frisk. Officers recovered a firearm from inside the vehicle, and placed both occupants into handcuffs. The firearm was later determined to be a Glock 26 with one round in the chamber and twenty-one rounds in an extended magazine.

After further investigation, the second occupant was promptly released from the scene.

Belgrave was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
