NSERC and the French National Research Agency (ANR) launch a new partnership to support collaborative research projects in quantum computing hardware and software

Following the announcement of a formal partnership between the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the French National Research Agency (ANR), we are pleased to announce the first joint collaborative research opportunity to support academic researchers from both countries in their pursuit of research in quantum computing hardware and software. Research projects supported through this partnership will enhance scientific collaborations and knowledge exchange between leading-edge researchers in Canada and France.

This collaborative opportunity supports key elements of Canada's National Quantum Strategy, specifically the mission to make Canada a world leader in the continued development, deployment and use of quantum computing hardware and software. It will also drive clear advancements in the rapidly evolving field of quantum technologies and will, ultimately, address fundamental challenges and explore cutting-edge applications in the field.

Through a lead agency model, Canadian applicants are invited to submit a single collaborative proposal on behalf of the Canadian and French research teams, which will undergo a review process by NSERC, the lead agency for this call. Applications will be accepted from November 23, 2023 until 8:00 p.m. (ET) on March 28, 2024, using the NSERC online system. Please read the program description for more information.
