ABK-Sponsored 56th NUKS-UK Annual Conference Concludes Successfully

The 56th Annual Conference of the National Union of Kuwaiti Students - UK chapter, sponsored by Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait (ABK) concluded successfully on 26th February 2023. The conference witnessed a lineup of exciting activities organized by ABK, such as a penalty shootout tournament, Alfouz Account draw, and an informative seminar, presented by ABK's HR team.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Sager Albenali, Acting Chief Communications Officer said, "ABK's sponsorship of the NUKS - UK chapter conference and the related events and activities is in line with the Bank's social responsibility strategy. This is especially important in terms of supporting Kuwaiti students studying in the UK by providing them with guidance and direction throughout their academic journey. We take it as a responsibility to assist the Kuwaiti students during their study period and help them overcome any obstacles they may face abroad."

Albenali added, "During the Annual Conference, which coincided with the national holidays of Kuwait, ABK sponsored several unique events for our students in the UK. These events included a penalty shootout tournament, in which 32 teams comprising of students studying in the UK competed for a cash prize totaling £9,000. Additionally, there were games, and a special raffle draw for a stay at the Hilton Park Lane London Hotel. The event also featured draws for valuable cash prizes, as well as a seminar presented by the Bank's human resources team that aimed at introducing the students to the Bank, its activities, and employment opportunities."

ABK gave away cash prizes worth KD 10,000 for students who participated in various competitions and activities, including a quiz on ABK the "Let's Be Aware" campaign. This activity was arranged by ABK and took place at the Covent Garden, one of London's most famous tourist attractions, offering more chances for students to be part of the national festivity and disseminating awareness of financial literacy and precautionary measures against fraud attempts simultaneously.

The 56th annual conference of NUKS, attended by H.E. Mr. Bader Mohammed Al-Awadi, the Ambassador of Kuwait to the UK, has significantly acted as a liaison that paved the way for students to discuss and address pertinent issues related to their academic journey.

ABK is committed to supporting various student activities both within and outside Kuwait, as part of its strategy to enhance its role in social responsibility, with a strong focus on education and youth. The Bank also recognizes the importance of supporting young graduates and lays great emphasis on offering them job opportunities and training programs through its "Al Ahli Academy". Established in 2009, the Academy serves as a center for training and educating new graduates, providing them with the necessary skills to work in the banking sector. The program is aimed at discovering new talents and enhancing their skills to help them grow their careers.

This initiative also falls in line with ABK's strategy of supporting the national workforce, reflected in the Bank's participation and sponsorship of various events and activities that focus on supporting, educating, training, and developing young nationals for employment in various fields. By doing so, the Bank continues to play an important role in developing and nurturing local talents, helping to build a stronger and a more proficient national workforce for the future.
