On 22 January 2024, H.E. Mr. Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended the Mobile Passport Enrollment Service in Ranong. This service, brought to the people during the official mobile Cabinet Meeting, is an outreach programme as part of People's Diplomacy to help save time and costs for people wishing to apply for a passport. Travelling to the nearest Passport Office in Surat Thani, located around 200 km. away, would take over 3 hours.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs attaches importance to driving foreign policies that aim to enhance economic development and create opportunities for people, especially those in border provinces like Ranong. Passports can be a gateway to new opportunities brought about by more trade, investment, and connectivity from the Landbridge Project, a key government policy designed to improve people's lives and wellbeing.
On this occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also spoke to local people to learn about their lives and concerns, so that consular services can be improved to better serve the people. Such firsthand information also helps to better craft economic strategies and projects to drive foreign policy and realise tangible outcomes for benefits of the people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organises a mobile passport enrollment service around the country every month. In Ranong, the passport team is grateful for the support from the Ranong Provincial Administrative Organization. Around 400 people came to apply for passports.
