Vietjet announces first ever direct flights between Vietnam and Queensland

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - 16 March 2023 - 50 years after Australia established diplomatic relations with Vietnam, the first non-stop flights connecting the rapidly developing nation and Queensland will commence this June. The Vietnamese leading new-age carrier Vietjet will operate twice weekly services between Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Brisbane Airport (BNE) by modern wide-body aircraft. Passengers arriving in Brisbane from Vietnam will be able to connect to 30 destinations to experience Queensland's great lifestyle. The flights will bring more than 30,000 Vietnamese visitors in Brisbane during the first year of operation. It's estimated Vietjet's direct flights to Brisbane will generate $25.6 million for Queensland's visitor economy and support 240 good Queensland jobs in the first year.

The flights to Brisbane will take off on June 16, 2023, with two flights per week, operating every Monday and Friday from Ho Chi Minh City at 10:05 (local time) and landing in Brisbane at 21:10 (local time). The return flights will take place every Monday and Friday, departing at 23:10 (local time) and landing at Ho Chi Minh City at 04:50 in the following day (local time).

Brisbane Airport Corporation Chief Executive Officer Gert-Jan de Graaff: "Vietnam is a rapidly growing market for Queensland, and we are delighted to have Vietjet join the BNE family. To have Vietnam and the Sunshine State connected for the first time by non-stop flights will deliver benefits in two countries. This historic new service from Vietjet will enable family and friends in Vietnam easy connection to Queensland."

And vice versa, Australians now would find it super easy and economical to fly across Asian nations across its vast network which serves Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, Taiwan, mainland China, Thailand, India, Kazakhstan, etc. and other Vietnamese touristy coastal cities named Da Nang, Nha Trang and Phu Quoc. I believe that our services would be a catalyst for the further growth of tourism and trade between the two nations in the coming years."

Vietjet operates around 450 flights daily on 160 routes connecting Vietnam and other Asian, European countries. The airline will commence a modern fleet and will deploy an Airbus A330-300 onto the brand-new route to Brisbane from June, with a configuration of 12 SkyBoss Business seats, and 365 seats in SkyBoss, Deluxe and Eco which are tailored for each demand of passengers. each offering all-inclusive services such as up to 60 kgs of checked baggage, organic food, free travel insurance, and more.
