Eversheds Sutherland helps Exa Robotic Systems Ltd pave way to creating world-first road maintenance AI robot

Eversheds Sutherland has advised Exa Robotic Systems Ltd on a significant fundraise to develop a world-first AI robot for tackling the UK's pothole problem.

Exa Robotic Systems is the parent company of Robotiz3D, a pioneering startup based in Warrington, which has engineered the groundbreaking autonomous robot.

The fundraise includes additional capital from the University of Liverpool, an existing shareholder, as well as from private investors.

The robot uses artificial intelligence to detect and repair cracks and potholes in roads. It features an innovative prediction algorithm that assesses potholes, providing local authorities with valuable insights to forecast road conditions and prioritise preventive maintenance.

The adoption of this technology is set to decrease the duration, expense, and environmental impact of traditional pothole and crack repair methods, streamlining the process significantly.

The global law firm advised on all aspects of the transaction and was led by Eversheds Sutherland corporate Partner, Danny Hall with support from corporate Associate Jonathan Edwards.

Danny Hall, Corporate Partner, Eversheds Sutherland, commented:

"It was a pleasure to support Robotiz3D on their significant fundraising activities. We are eager to support the company's growth and advancements in the coming years."

Lisa Layzell, CEO and co-founder at Robotiz3d, commented:

"We have been delighted with the expert guidance we have received from Danny Hall and Jon Edwards of Eversheds Sutherland in our series of VC fundraisings over the last two years."
