WASHINGTON, D.C.- Today, the Biden Administration announced the appointment of Laura Daniel-Davisto serve as acting Deputy Secretary of the Interior. Daniel-Davis replaces Tommy Beaudreau, who announced his departurefrom the department in early October.

Daniel-Davis has worked for more than three decades in both the public and non-profit sectors. Most recently, she served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management at the Department of the Interior.

In response, Athan Manuel, Sierra Club Lands Protection Program Director, released the following statement:

"Laura Daniel-Davis is a dedicated public servant with years of experience working across the aisle and with local communities to protect public lands. Her abilities and experience will be crucial at the Department of the Interior as we work to protect lands, waters, wildlife populations, and the communities that rely on them from the increasingly devastating effects of climate change. We urge the Senate to act swiftly and confirm this highly qualified nominee."
