Senator Baldwin Leads Effort on Letter to USPS Board of Governors Questioning Leadership

Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) led an effort sending a letterto the United States Postal Service Board of Governors questioning Postmaster General DeJoy's leadership, which has resulted in unsustainable rate hikes and poor service. Baldwin expressed concern regarding the Delivering for America (DFA) Plan and the future of the United States Postal Service. Since 2020, the USPS has delivered 12 billion fewer pieces of mail, bringing volume to its lowest level in 40 years. The letters states that rate increases, and by extension, the DFA, have failed to meet the objective and promises that Postmaster General DeJoy put forth in 2020. The letter requests the Board to step in before further harm is caused. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Ron Wyden (D-OR), Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), and Peter Welch (D-VT) also joined the letter.
