HRRL Leads Massive Tree Plantation Drive (17,000 Trees planted on World Environment Day Spread Over 5000 Acres)

On the occasion of World Environment Day, HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) at Pachpadra, Barmer took a pioneering step towards increasing the green cover in the area through a remarkable mass tree plantation initiative. In a remarkable display of solidarity, 17,000 trees were planted on 67 acres, spread over 5,000 acres, within a span of just three hours.
This ambitious program, which was planned and executed within a short span of time, showcased HPCL's unwavering commitment to the environment and sustainability. With the motto of "one sapling planted by one person," the initiative aimed to create an inclusive awareness movement for greening the desert area with challenging soil conditions, transforming it into a green belt.
The mass tree plantation program brought together all stakeholders, including the LSTK Contractor management, HRRL, and EIL Officers involved in the construction of the Rajasthan Refinery Project. The enthusiastic participation of HRRL Officer family members and contract workmen contributed to the resounding success of the tree plantation program.
The plantation program commenced at the HRRL Refinery township, where it was graced by Shri Kamalakar Vikhar, CEO of HRRL, along with Shri Reji Mathews, ED-Projects (Site In charge), Senior officials and other employees and their families residing in the township. The event began with the administration of the Environment Day pledge by HRRL CEO, followed by mass tree plantation by the refinery's contractors and project officers at various locations within the refinery site.
The collective effort of employees, their families, and contractor workmen showcased their determination to transform barren spaces into lush green surroundings, despite the adverse soil and weather conditions. The program was especially uplifting for the Refinery project workmen, who emerged as the true champions of the day.
The plantation drive will contribute to the development of a green belt in the area, facilitating soil moisture retention, groundwater recharge, maintaining a pleasant microclimate, and effectively controlling pollution in the arid region. The event served as a reminder of the collective responsibility to leave behind a rich legacy for future generations, where the environment is made more friendly and sustainable.
