Evacuation Alert lifted for Saprae Creek Estates

The Evacuation Alert for Saprae Creek Estates is no longer in effect as significant progress has been made in containing the fire.

Alberta Wildfire crews are continuing with air and ground suppression. Wildfire MWF-012 is now classified as being-held, this means that the fire is not expected to grow given current resources and tactics. Currently, there are four firefighting crews, six helicopters, two airtanker groups, and five heavy equipment groups working on this wildfire. Night operations will continue this evening both on the ground and the air.

Anyone in the area and all residents in the region should continue to stay informed and be prepared during wildfire season, especially with the extremely dry conditions, elevating the wildfire risk.

Reminders for the public

Flying personal drones is prohibited near wildfires or helicopter flight paths. Drones are interfering with firefighting helicopters, impacting critical aerial fire suppression operations.

Residents are asked to continue to avoid areas where crews are actively working to avoid hindering emergency response efforts.

"We'd like to thank residents for their preparedness and for continuing to stay away from Alberta Wildfire operations. This is positive news, but I want to encourage residents in the community to remain vigilant and maintain an emergency kit in case the situation changes." said Chief Jody Butz.
