The event, hosted by DLA Land and Maritime's People Support and Culture Division, was created to acknowledge and celebrate the hard work and dedication of the DLA Land and Maritime workforce.

"It's important that we take time from our schedules to acknowledge and celebrate the value each of you adds to our organization," said DLA Land and Maritime Commander Army Brig. Gen. Gail Atkins, addressing the workforce. "Your shared commitment to the mission and to each other is truly the foundation of our Land and Maritime Culture."

A 'Gratitude Board' on display highlighted notes of appreciation submitted by associates at all levels during the weeks leading up to the event. In addition, a raffle offered three winners a free lunch from one of several food trucks on site, courtesy of DLA Land and Maritime Command; and one lucky winner scored Deputy Commander Kenneth Watson's parking spot for a week.

"It's a small token of gratitude in comparison to the hard work and dedication of our Land and Maritime workforce," Watson said. "I want each and every member of our team to know they are valued, and they serve an important and essential role in accomplishing our mission - the mission of this combat logistics support agency."

People Support and Culture Division Chief Jamila Bayard said she and her team plan to host Employee Appreciation Day as an annual Spring event, leading up to the larger Multicultural and Diversity Day, which celebrates DLA Land and Maritime's diverse workforce.
