Delivering remarks after visiting the Manavgat district of Antalya that was affected by forest fires, President Erdoğan said: 'Our state, with all its institutions and capabilities, is working to put out the fires, ease the sufferings of our citizens, compensate for the losses and rebuild the damaged areas.'

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid a visit to areas in the Manavgat district of Antalya that were affected by forest fires. After being briefed by Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli, President Erdoğan delivered remarks at Manavgat Youth Center.

'TL50 MILLION HAS BEEN ALLOCATED TO MEET THE URGENT NEEDS IN AREAS AFFECTED BY FIRES'

'TL50 million has been allocated to meet the urgent needs in areas affected by the fires. Let me also add that rental aid will also be provided to those whose houses have been burned and damaged. Damages to agricultural and greenhouse activities and livestock will be compensated for,' President Erdoğan said.

Noting that the reconstruction of the houses would begin in one month, President Erdoğan said: 'Our aim is to complete all the houses, along with all the annexes, barns and storage areas, within a year in line with the local architecture.'

Stating that the efforts to put out the fires were conducted by a rather large crew, President Erdoğan extended his sympathies and voiced his support to the local people who had been fighting against the fires for nearly 3 days.

'Our state, with all its institutions and capabilities, is working to put out the fires, ease the sufferings of our citizens, compensate for the losses and rebuild the damaged areas,' President Erdoğan underlined.

Recalling that Osman and Şehri Gardaş lost their lives in Manavgat and Hasan Ali Yüksel in Akseki, President Erdoğan said: 'Our 334 citizens, who were affected by the fires, immediately received medical treatment. Nearly all of them have been discharged.'

'IT IS OUR FOREMOST DUTY TO REFOREST THE BURNED AREAS'

Underscoring that it was our foremost duty to reforest the burned areas, President Erdoğan also noted that most of the fires were taken under control.

'According to evaluations by international organizations, we rank first among countries that respond to fires in the fastest and most effective way and suffer the least damage,' President Erdoğan said.

'Today is the day to stand in solidarity and overcome these disasters together,' President Erdoğan underlined. 'We will begin to reforest the burned areas with the first rains.'
