The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is pleased to announce that three of its distinguished professors have been elected by their academic peers as 2023 Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world's largest general scientific society and publisher of the journal Science. The prestigious life-time honour recognises the scholars' extraordinary contributions to the scientific community, highlights the strength of HKU's faculty and underscores the University's commitment to producing cutting-edge research and fostering a culture of academic excellence.

AAAS Fellows are an esteemed group of international scientists, engineers, and innovators recognised for their accomplishments across various fields, including research, teaching, technology, academia, industry, government administration, and science communication for the public. This 150th class comprises 502 Fellows across 24 AAAS disciplinary Sections.

The newly elected AAAS Fellows from HKU are:

Chair Professor, Department of Geography, Faculty of Social Sciences

Professor Yuyu ZHOU
