Usina Coruripe launches project to encourage the practice of sustainability in partnership with suppliers

Usina Coruripe, one of the largest in the sugar-energy sector in the country, reinforces its commitment to sustainable practices and launches, today, World Animal and Nature Day, a project to value suppliers aligned with the company's socio-environmental principles. Named Sustainable Partnerships, the initiative gives partner companies the possibility to participate in projects developed or supported by Coruripe.

With the aim of ensuring the preservation of the environment and the well-being of future generations, Sustainable Partnerships will connect and inspire sustainable solutions in companies, a theme that is at the heart of the company's strategy. To date, the project has six large companies (Ubyfol, FMC, Bayer, Corteva, Coplana and Mosaic), which have decided to support all projects of the Institute for Social and Ecological Development (Idese), an institution whose objective is to promote development sustainable. With units in Coruripe (AL) and Januária (MG), the institute invests in social and environmental projects that promote education, culture, entrepreneurship and the development of the communities where it operates.

To crown the launch of Sustainable Partnerships, the Mammal Monitoring Project, in the Private Natural Heritage Reserve (RPPN) Porto Cajueiro -located in the municipality of Januária, in Minas Gerais, as well as in Alagoas- had a great achievement this month. Created to evaluate population trends of Cajueiro mammals, the project has cameras that monitor medium and large animals. In September, the first review of the 43 photographic cameras installed in August was carried out and some important mammal species in the cerrado were identified: giant anteater, jaguar (with cub), tapir (with cub), brocket deer and hen armadillo.

"We have developed a series of initiatives to enhance our positive impact on society and the environment aimed at sustainable development", says the president of Usina Coruripe, Mario Lorencatto. He reinforces the importance of having suppliers aligned with the company's values. "Much more than competitive values, our suppliers are encouraged to be aligned with our purposes and principles of generating value for society", declares Lorencatto
