Montoursville, PA - Motorists are advised that a bridge replacement project will begin next week on Route 4004 (Mile Post Road) in Upper Augusta Township, Northumberland County. The bridge is located just north of Mount Pleasant Road and carries Mile Post Road over an unnamed tributary to the North Branch Susquehanna River.

On Monday, April 18, 2024, the contractor, H&P Construction Incorporated will begin work to install new storm drainage in advance of structure replacement work. Beginning on Monday April 22, 2024, Mile Post Road will be closed between Route 4003 (Mount Pleasant Road) and the intersection with Route 4006 (Mile Hill Road) while the contractor works to remove the existing structure and construct the new culvert.

Long term detours will be in place for the duration of the project. Northbound motorists will use Mile Hill Road north and Mile Post Road in the village of Klines Grove. Southbound motorists will use Mile Hill Road in the village of Klines Grove, Mount Pleasant Road back to Mile Post Road.

H&P Construction Incorporated is the prime contractor for this $2.2 million bridge replacement project. Work on this project includes removal of the existing structure and replacement with a new concrete box culvert, realignment of the roadway, and other miscellaneous work.
