WHAT: Pan-African flag-raising ceremony

WHERE: 100 East Erie Street, Chicago, IL

WHEN: Monday, February 3, 2025, at 10 a.m.

WHY: To commemorate the start of Black History Month.

On Monday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m., please join the MWRD in raising the Pan-African flag in front of the Barbara J. McGowan Main Office Building, 100 E. Erie Street, Chicago, to kick off Black History Month. The flag will also be raised at all seven water reclamation plants.

About the MWRD

The MWRD treats an average of 1.2 billion gallons of wastewater each day and transforms it into clean water to protect area waterways and the source of drinking water in Lake Michigan. As the authority on stormwater management for Cook County, the MWRD works diligently towards flood mitigation by coordinating, planning, implementing, financing, and operating regional stormwater management projects and developing and enforcing responsible watershed development rules.
