Specialist Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service first appointment waiting times: February 2024

We have become aware that many health boards are progressively shifting to a Single Point of Access service model for mental health services whereby assessments for specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) are being undertaken within the Local Primary Mental Health Support Service (LPMHSS) and data for this service is reported and published within the LPMHSS Mental Health Measure publication. This means that some health boards have stopped collecting specialist CAMHS waiting times data, which has been previously published in this output. We are therefore considering whether it is still valuable to users to continue publishing these statistics.

At the end of February 2024

115 patient pathways were waiting for a first appointment for sCAMHS; of those, 109 (94.8%) patient pathways were waiting less than 4 weeks.
