DALLAS - Dallas ISD Hispanic Heritage story of the week:
Alicia Iwasko - Principal of Annie Webb Blanton Elementary School
Born and raised in Mexico, Principal Iwasko followed in her mother's and grandfather's path and became a teacher. In 2008, she moved to Dallas to follow her passion of teaching bilingual classes in elementary school. Ten years later, after serving at different positions in Dallas ISD, as a fresh graduate from SMU with her second master's degree in education, Iwasko was presented with the opportunity to become principal at Blanton.

Dallas ISD offers call center for transportation inquiries
From 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., this week, Dallas ISD's parents will be able to ask questions related to transportation, both in English and Spanish, by calling the Transportation department's call center at 972-925-4287.
Dallas ISD meals to continue throughout the school year
Dallas ISD continues offering free curbside meals to registered Dallas ISD students for the 2020-2021 school year. A week's worth of food will be distributed every Thursday, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Parents will be able to preorder their meals here and select the most convenient school location for pickup here. Student identification numbers will be required for pickup.
A day in the life of pre-K students
In preparation for in-person learning, Dallas ISD released a video explaining what the school day of Pre-K students will look like. It explains measures such as social distancing, temperature checks, and sanitation stations, among others.
