Hart after more Menangle magic before chasing Inter Dominion series

27 November 2023

HE'S conquered New Zealand and star young reinsman Cameron Hart is now setting his sights on the Inter Dominion in Queensland this week.

Hart will head there hoping for a Jason Grimson 'three-peat' after the Menangle trainer confirmed NZ Cup winner Swayzee would be heading for the Sunshine State.

Meanwhile Hart reminded everyone of his extraordinary talent in the sulky with another winning treble at Menangle on Saturday night.

The former Riverina reinsman scored with Brooklyn Bridge, Denis William and Hi Manameisjeff as he soared beyond 200 wins for the season.

And Hart heads back there on Tuesday with another big day in his sights with a full book of drives on the eight-race card.

Five of those will be for David Waite and two more will be for Jarrod Alchin with Our Ultimate Ivy (Race 3) possibly the best of them.

"I thought Ivy's first-up run was OK and I have a fair bit of time for this filly," Hart told National Trotguide on-line's Mike Ko'cass.

"I'm looking forward to how she will perform when she gets up in grade when we can tuck her away a bit and then use her speed.

"She is going to be a nice filly.

"I think she's probably the best horse in her race but I may need to drive her a bit aggressively to put her into it.

"Hopefully she can win that."

Hart is also looking forward to driving Major Celebrity in Race 7.

"This bloke has a lot of ability but he can be a bit tricky and can be hit or miss with his performances," said Hart.

"But he's quite handy when he puts it all together.

"Hopefully, we can put him in a good spot.

"There's a couple of similar abilities in the race and it will come "down to what sort of trip we get but I'm hoping he can be there at the finish as well."

Hart admitted he had a close call and almost wore a set of hooves when Hi Manameisjeff lashed out during the warm-up before his win on Saturday night.

"He has a great cruising speed and closes in great sectionals and did it comfortably," he said.

"I'm looking forward to a Miracle Mile or a race like that with him.

"He can be a bit temperamental when he's warming up but he's a good horse, so we can put up with it."
