State Police investigate fatal Albany incident on I-787

On April 23, 2024, State Police responded to I-787 northbound in Albany, NY, for the report of an injured individual in the roadway.

On April 23, 2024, at about 10:01 a.m. Troopers responded to I-787 northbound just north of exit 5 in Albany, NY, for the reports of an injured individual in the roadway. The investigation has determined an individual stopped and parked their vehicle on the I-90 ramp over I-787. They then jumped from the overpass onto the northbound lanes of I-787. The fall caused severe injuries, and they were declared deceased at the scene. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours while the investigation was conducted and then reopened.

An autopsy was conducted at Ellis Hospital. Pathologist Doctor Bernard Ng has ruled the manner of death a suicide.
