Damaged by Extreme Weather, PT Timah Tbk Assists in the Development of Fishermen's Huts in Tanjung Niur

WEST BANGKA -- To support fishermen's activities on Tanjung Niur Beach, Tempilang District, West Bangka Regency, PT Timah Tbk handed over assistance to rebuild fishermen's huts damaged by strong winds.

The assistance to repair the fishermen's hut on Tanjung Niur Beach was handed over by PT Timah Tbk's CSR team to the Head of RT O3 Tanjung Niur village Hermanto and Head of HNSI Tanjung Niur Jhon, Tuesday (24/1/2023).

These fishermen's huts are usually used by local fishermen to monitor the weather, and market their catch, and are a meeting place for fishermen. Therefore, assistance to repair the hut from PT Timah Tbk is really needed.

Head of HNSI Tanjung Niur Village Jhon said their fishermen's hut was damaged because it was hit by big waves. In addition, this hut has been built for a long time so it has suffered various damages due to age.

According to him, assistance from PT Timah Tbk will be used to purchase equipment to repair the hut.

"Due to bad weather and big waves some time ago, the fishermen's post building collapsed. So it can no longer be used as a gathering point for fishermen, a place to monitor sea tides and market their catch," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of RT 03 Tanjung Niur Village, Tempilang District Hermanto appreciated PT Timah's concern for fishermen in Tanjung Niur

"We express our gratitude and appreciation to PT Timah for caring for the residents of Tanjung Niur, the majority of whom work as fishermen. Hopefully, it will provide benefits for fishermen, and PT Timah will progress and be able to continue to help the community," said Hermanto who is also a fisherman.

In a similar vein, the Head of Tanjung Niur Village, Sukarman, said that the people of Tanjung Niur have felt the presence of PT Timah Tbk, which often helps their residents.

"Alhamdulillah, PT Timah has provided a lot of assistance, such as KWH assistance for fishermen, assistance for organizing sports, facilities and infrastructure, and others.
PT Timah really cares, the community feels the existence of PT Timah," he said.
