COVID-19 Info and Resources

  • I have been fully vaccinated. Do I still have to quarantine if I am exposed to COVID-19?

As long as they remain asymptomatic, fully vaccinated individuals do not have to quarantine following a known exposure to COVID-19. If you have been fully vaccinated and are identified by the KSU COVID Response Center as a close contact to a confirmed case, please email proof of your vaccination to [email protected] to avoid the quarantine requirement. Additionally, vaccinated individuals who are identified as close contacts are advised to take precautions and follow Department of Public Health guidance, which can be found here.

  • How will the University respond when someone tests positive for COVID-19?

We have established a response team of trained professionals to respond to confirmed COVID-19 cases on campus.

    • Students
      • Students will be provided with the necessary medical care as well as educational and other support services. The student will be instructed to self-isolate in accordance with Georgia Department of Public Health guidance, with their consent, their information will be reported to their professors so that they are made aware that they will miss class. If the student resides on campus, they will be asked to share a list of their close contacts at KSU. In coordination with Cobb Douglas Department of Health, close contacts will be notified.
    • Faculty/Staff
      • Faculty or staff who test positive for COVID-19 should complete the COVID Self-reporting form found hereimmediately. The employee will be instructed to self-isolate at home in accordance with DPH guidance.
      • The COVID Response Team will also coordinate with Environmental Health & Safety to determine if additional cleaning and decontamination of affected work areas is necessary.
  • What cleaning protocols are in place at the University?
    • KSU cleaning protocols align with CDC and USG guidance. High-traffic/high-touch areas will be professionally cleaned and disinfected multiple times per day. Employees should wipe down equipment that is commonly used (e.g., copiers, printers, fax machines) before and after use. Employees will be encouraged to clean their workstations daily. We will provide disinfectant and paper towels to each department. Cleaning supplies are limited and for office use ONLY.
    • Disinfectant wipes will be provided in classrooms so that students and faculty can clean their desks and workspaces in between use.
  • What percentage of the KSU community has been vaccinated?

In partnership with Wellstar Health System, KSU began administering vaccines for all faculty, staff and students in January 2021 and will continue to offer vaccines and booster doses to the campus community at no cost. In addition to the on-campus option, members of the community have received vaccinations at the many off-campus sites available through the state. Therefore, it is impossible for the University to know how many people have been vaccinated. However, the University has and will continue to encourage faculty, staff and students to receive the vaccine on campus or through other providers.

  • Are there policies in place to address unvaccinated people?

Students, faculty and staff should not be asked about their vaccine status, and students should not be segregated in a classroom or from other instructor-student interactions (office hours, group work, field trips, labs, etc.) based on their vaccination status.
