FRIDAY: SBA Deputy Administrator Visits with Business Owners Affected by the Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse and Tours Business Recovery Center

BALTIMORE - On Friday, April 19, Deputy Administrator Dilawar Syed, of theU.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), will travel to Baltimore to highlight federal resources available to help businesses withstand the economic impact of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse as part of the Biden-Harris Administration's whole-of-government approach to the recovery process.

Deputy Administrator Syed will host a closed-press roundtable alongside U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen, Maryland Governor Wes Moore's Representative, Y. Maria Martinez and Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott's Representative, Chris Lundy to meet with small business owners affected by the disaster and hear the challenges they are facing. Deputy Administrator Syed will then be joined by Senators Cardin and Van Hollen for a tour of an SBA Business Recovery Center which will include media availability.

The SBA has made low-interest, long-term Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) availableto affected business owners to help them overcome temporary loss of revenue. The SBA also moved swiftly to open three Business Recovery Centers (BRCs) to assist business owners in completing their disaster loan applications, accept documents, and provide status on loan applications.
