WMD army aviation crews monitor fire-danger in Karelia

The army aviation crews of the air force and air defence large unit of the Western Military Distruct located in the Republic of Karelia monitor the forested areas in order to detect flame points.

To detect natural fires at their initial stage, the crews of the Mi-8, Mi-35 and Mi-24 multi-purpose helicopters patrol the territories in the zones of possible fire outbreaks. The Mi-8 helicopters equipped with helibuckets VSU-5 are on standby at airfields.

In order to respond to the emerging natural threats, there has been established a connection with regional and municipal authorities, as well as with emergency services.
