Amador COVID-19 News

Amador County Public Health (ACPH) reports 37 more individuals with COVID-19 since last Tuesday (60% unvaccinated). Cases include 10 children under 18 years, 15 age 18-49, 4 age 50-64, and 8 age 65 and above. Confirmed cases in 2021 total 2,681. There are currently 42 active cases in isolation. All who are currently hospitalized for COVID-19 are unvaccinated. One additional death due to COVID-19 was confirmed this week, a female in her 60s.

No-cost COVID-19 vaccine clinics at the Health and Human Services Building (HHS) will be held today (Tues Dec 21), Sunday (Dec 26), and Tuesday (Dec 28) from 9 AM to 6 PM. Walk-in opportunities may be very limited. To ensure an appointment visit the myturn.ca.gov website or call 1-833-422-4255. To schedule an appointment for a homebound individual call Amador Public Health at (209) 223-6407.

All three COVID-19 vaccines are available for any dose including booster doses.

  • Everybody over age 16 and older is advised to get a booster
  • Anyone who received Johnson & Johnson more than two months ago is recommended to get a booster.
  • Those who received Pfizer or Moderna are recommended to get their booster at least six months after their second dose.
  • People may receive a booster shot of either the vaccine they originally received or a different vaccine.

Schedule a booster dose appointment at myturn.ca.gov. Please bring your vaccination card, a photo of your card, or digital record that shows the dates of your previous dose(s).

As Omicron is becoming the dominant strain in the U.S. we have the tools to fight variants: vaccination/boosters, wearing masks indoors, testing, improved indoor ventilation, and stay home if you are sick.

COVID-19 vaccines are available for everyone age 5 and over. Parents who are interested in vaccinating their children may speak with their pediatrician or visit myturn.ca.gov to schedule an appointment. Retail pharmacy availability may be checked at vaccines.gov.

Due to the upcoming holidays, the OptumServe testing site will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7 AM to 7 PM for the next two weeks. Please register for this no-cost testing at the lhi.care website or by calling 1-888-634-1123. The site will be closed on Dec 25th and Jan 1st. OptumServe will accommodate walk-ins on a limited basis. Masks are required at the testing site. Get tested 1-3 days before a gathering, or before and after travel, even if you have no symptoms. Anyone who is exhibiting symptoms, even fully vaccinated individuals, should isolate and get tested.
