San José, May 16th, 2023. - Ensuring the generation of more and better job opportunities in the region through the various financial supports it approves for its member countries, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) commemorated International Labor Day by anticipating the creation and preservation of 23,556 jobs in Costa Rica as a result of three initiatives approved in the last six months.
We are talking about the Comprehensive and Resilient Infrastructure Reconstruction Emergency Program, approved in December 2022, which contemplates the construction and/or rehabilitation of more than 2,000 projects including roads, schools, bridges, railways and others; as well as the Government City Project, for the construction, leasing and transfer of a complex of state-owned buildings; and a credit line to provide operational support to the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE), approved in February.
"On this important date, on which more than 100 years ago thousands of people fought for their labor rights, we reinforce CABEI's commitment to strengthening the region's competitiveness by promoting human development and social inclusion through training, the creation of opportunities, and access to resources for micro, medium and small businesses," said CABEI Executive President, Dr. Dante Mossi.

The estimates of jobs to be generated and/or preserved are made through the Development Impact Evaluation System (SEID) of CABEI's Social and Environmental Monitoring Office (OFIMSA), which, among many other variables, measures the human development impacts that each project will generate, including the number of temporary and permanent direct jobs.
These actions are aligned with CABEI's human development strategic axis, which seeks to generate effective social capacities for real social inclusion that will ultimately translate into improved well-being and quality of life for the region's inhabitants.
