City Colleges of Chicago to Honor Associate Degree Earners at Wintrust Arena on Saturday

Graduates from the seven colleges have saved thousands of dollars on tuition with scholarships, no-cost programs, and range in age from 17 to 76 years old

CHICAGO (May 2, 2024) - The class of 2024 will join a special group of Chicagoans-alumni who have graduated from one of the seven City Colleges of Chicago. Being the definition of resilience and dedication, they have invested in their education at City Colleges, making a decision that will pay dividends in the future.

More than 1,700 students are expected to walk across the stage on Saturday, May 4 at Wintrust Arena in celebration of earning their associate degree (see below for the graduation schedule).

"I want to congratulate all our graduates who put in the hard work to earn their associate degree. Graduating requires diligence and dedication," said Chancellor Juan Salgado, City Colleges of Chicago. "Our students are an inspiration to us and their family and friends. To them, I say: College gave you tools, combine them with your abundant talent and share them with our city."

The City Colleges of Chicago 2024 Commencement Ceremonies for associate degree earners will take place in the following order and end times are approximate:

10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Ceremony

• Richard J. Daley College
• Harry S Truman College
• Kennedy-King College
• Harold Washington College

3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Ceremony

• Wilbur Wright College
• Olive-Harvey College
• Malcolm X College

City Colleges of Chicago Class of 2024 by the Numbers:

• 3,479 total associate degree earners (from Summer 2023, Fall 2022, and Spring 2024)
• 1,831 are first-generation college students (53%)
• 917 are Star Scholars who earned their associate degree at no-cost (tuition and books) (26%)
• 94 are Early College students (current Chicago Public School students earning an associate degree while still in high school)
• One in three graduates is a parenting scholar.
• The average age of graduates is 27 years old; the youngest graduate is 17 years old and the oldest graduate is 76 years old
