President von der Leyen travels to Latin America to strengthen links with key partners

Following this week's presentation of the New Agenda for relations between the EU and Latin America and the Caribbean, Commission President von der Leyenwill travel next week to Latin America with the aim of strengthening relations with key partners in the region.

On Monday, 12 June, President von der Leyenwill be in Brasilia, where she will be received by the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, for a bilateral meeting and a working lunch. The same day, in the afternoon, President von der Leyenwill deliver a speech at the Confederation of National Industry.

The following day, on Tuesday 13 June, President von der Leyenwill be in Buenos Aires. There, she will meet Alberto Fernández, President of Argentina. Later, at 22:00 CEST, the President will deliver a speech at the EU-Argentina Business Forum.

On Wednesday, 14 June, the President will arrive in Santiago de Chile. She will meet the President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, and the President will later visit Comberplast, a Chilean company dedicated to recycling plastic.

Lastly, on Thursday 15 June, President von der Leyenwill be in Mexico City where she will meet the President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

During this trip, the President will make a number of announcements about projects under our Global Gateway strategy, which will be mutually beneficial and bring both regions even closer together.

The President's visits come ahead of the EU-CELAC Summit which will take place in Brussels on 17-18 July and which will showcase the strategic importance of the partnership between the European Union and Latin American and the Caribbean.
