MCSO deputies apprehend fleeing & eluding suspect

Macomb Township, MI - On 2/20/24, at approximately 9:55PM, a Macomb County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Deputy observed a blue Chevy Silverado allegedly traveling faster than pace than traffic on 23 Mile Road, east of Romeo Plank. The suspect, a male, 27-years of age, from New Baltimore, was observed to be erratically merging lanes and cutting off other vehicles.

The Deputy followed the vehicle south onto Middle River Drive and attempted to make a traffic stop. The suspect continued to accelerate away from the Deputy, traveling on Sandpiper Drive, Riverside Drive, and Calypso Drive, before returning to Middle River Drive and ultimately 23 Mile Road. The Deputy, with lights and sirens activated, continued to follow the suspect, attempting to make a traffic stop.

Other MCSO Deputies assisted, deploying stop sticks, which aided in slowing and eventually disabling the suspect's vehicle. Two Deputies followed the suspect into a parking lot of a local business, where the suspect fled on foot from his truck.

Deputies immediately apprehended the suspect. He continued to resist arrest, kicking, and attempting to pull away from Deputies. Shelby Township Officers also arrived on scene and assisted in taking the suspect into custody.

The suspect was transported to and lodged at the Macomb County Jail. He is expected to be arraigned this afternoon.
