Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza Repaving Resumes September 25

Beginning Monday, September 25, 2023, some vehicle travel lanes at the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza will be closed for roadway work and repaving. Traffic on the Bridge will remain open in both directions, but drivers should expect delays while the lane closures are in effect.

To minimize travel impacts, most toll plaza lane closures are being coordinated with regular overnight lane closures across the Bridge for the construction of the Suicide Deterrent System.

Traffic control and signage will be in place during toll plaza roadway construction. Drivers should plan to slow down and proceed with caution around work areas during the lane closures.

On Friday, September 29, the Merchant Rd. freeway on and off-ramps and southbound Golden Gate Transit bus stop will be closed overnight due to repaving in the southbound curb lane. The Muni route 28 will also be canceled during repaving on Friday, September 29.

On Friday, October 13, the Lincoln Blvd. freeway off-ramp and northbound Golden Gate Transit bus stop will be closed overnight due to repaving in the northbound curb lane. The Muni route 28 will also be canceled during repaving on Friday, October 13.

Toll plaza lane closures are scheduled for the following dates and times:

  • Monday, September 25 through Wednesday, September 27: southbound lane closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Thursday, September 28: northbound lane closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Friday, September 29: southbound lane and Merchant Rd. off-ramp closure from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. (*includes transit schedule changes)
  • Friday, October 13: northbound lane and Lincoln Blvd (last SF exit) on and off-ramps closure from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. (*includes transit schedule changes)
