Deputy Minister Ivaylo Shotev: We are working to increase the share of high-tech manufacturing and services

The main strategic priority of the Ministry of Economy and Industry is to increase the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy and its overall transformation into a knowledge-based economy. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Ivaylo Shotev during the 3rd Regional Conference on Innovation and Technology South East Europe ITS Summit 2023.

"This priority can be met by increasing the share of high-tech industries and knowledge-intensive services and the levels of use of digital technologies in business processes, automation and robotization of enterprises, skills in areas such as ICT and cybersecurity, and resource efficiency," said Ivaylo Shotev.

The Deputy Minister presented the areas in which, according to the Ministry of Economy and Industry, priority should be given in order to increase the competitiveness of the Bulgarian economy and to create an optimal environment for the development of technological business in Bulgaria. These include security and predictability of the business environment and improving the conditions for attracting investments, skills development and support for professionals and entrepreneurs to improve their professional qualifications, support for the link between business and science and the integration of innovative technological solutions into business processes, support for development centres and the development of innovative technology projects.

The 3rd Regional Innovation and Technology Conference South East Europe ITS Summit 2023 is organised by the Association for Innovation, Business Services and Technology (AIBEST). It was opened by the Minister of e-Government Alexander Iolovski.
