11th Ningbo Literature Week starts

The opening ceremony of the 11th Ningbo Literature Week, as well as the awarding ceremony for the 11th Chu Jiwang Literature Awards and the 3rd He Cailin Science Fiction Literature Awards, was held in Yinzhou District on the morning of April 20. The literature week, which began in 2013, has started its new journey of the second decade.

With the theme of "imagination, passion, and creation", this year's literature week mainly consists of a series of activities including literature awards, works sharing sessions of award-winning writers, and literary salons, with a gathering of well-known writers and a variety of highlights.

"Ningbo has a rich cultural heritage and has nurtured a large number of outstanding writers. I have a profound impression of the strong literature atmosphere of the city. Various cultural activities, like book exhibitions, lectures, and seminars, have sprung up one after another, and I am not only a witness but also a participant. The literature week has especially promoted the cultivation of literature talents in Ningbo." said Ye Xin, a prominent writer and literature master, at the opening ceremony. "I hope Ningbo writers can devote themselves with more enthusiasm and vitality to the great era, continuously compose excellent works, and become outstanding writers!"

At the ceremony, the prizes of the 11th Chu Jiwang Literature Awards and the 3rd He Cailin Science Fiction Literature Awards were presented successively.

The Chu Jiwang Literature Awards is a permanent annual award jointly established by the Literary Harbor magazine and Chu Jiwang, chairman of Ningbo Ruyi Co., Ltd. Since last year, there has been a "Jury's Special Award" with a prize of up to 200,000 yuan, and the prize for excellent works has also been increased to 30,000 yuan. As a result, it has attracted the attention of a group of literature masters to compose high-quality works that are "well accepted and widely spread". This has further expanded the influence of Literary Harbor across the country and enhanced the comprehensive influence of Ningbo's literature.

The "Jury's Special Award" of the 11th Chu Jiwang Literature Awards was given to the "Scattered Views" by Lin Mang, the poem series "The Mountains and Rivers of Sorrow" by Gong Xuemin, and the poem series "Revelation Before Dawn" by Ren Bai won the grand literature awards. The works of Ji Zhongxian, Zou Hanming, Yang Zhuoya, Yong Cuo, and Liubai won the "Excellent Works awards".

The golden prize of the 3rd He Cailin Science Fiction Literature Awards was won by "Star, Dust, and Flute Player" by Wang Wen, the silver prize, by "Our Road"(by Xiu Xinyu), "Farewell to the Old Man" (by Wahrig), and "Aliens and Shepherd Children" (by Amingzai) , and the bronze prize, by "Top Floor of the Circus" (by Chen Zhiwei) "Guidebook of the Garden" (by Wang Kewei), "Crystal City" (by Ling Feng), "A Whale Parting the Red Sea under the Moon" (by Zong Cheng), and Chen Xingru's "Fall in Love with Love" (by Chen Xing). Meanwhile, the "top five science fiction works in Ningbo" went to "Top Floor of the Circus" (by Chen Zhiwei), "Guidebook of the Garden" (by Wang Kewei), "Dawn of Spreading Retroists" (by Chen Lilong), "My Struggle and I" (by Ming Shuofeng), and "Folding the Future" (by Yu Yongtao).

The works sharing session of the award-winning writers of the Chu Jiwang Literature Awards was held at the Book City of Yinzhou District on the afternoon. In the meantime, as the highlight of this literature week, the first East China Sea Literature Salon was held to attract the literature enthusiasts through the offline "open class of literature" and the online live broadcasting.

The organizing committee of Ningbo Literature Week held the "Special Lecture on World Reading Day" jointly with the Tianyi Lecture Hall of Ningbo Library, when Bi Feiyu, a well-known write, gave a lecture on the topic of "Entering Novels", which attracted a number of literature enthusiasts.

The two works revision meetings were held simultaneously in Yinzhou District and Beilun District. The chief editors and editors of well-known literary journals, such as People's Literature, Harvest, October, and Contemporary Time, offered consultation and suggestions for local writers and works in Ningbo, helping to improve the overall standard of literature in Ningbo.

Other literature events will be held one after another in the following days, including the film and TV incubation meeting for winning works of the He Cailin Science Fiction Literature Awards, the premiere ceremony of the novel of famous writer Tianya, the work revision meeting for writers of Zhenhai District, and the awarding ceremony of the 6th Yuan Kejia Poetry Awards.
