KBR is proud to support the Centre for Leadership Performance's Dream Placement, a unique initiative that brings together motivated young people aged 16 to 18 with some of the most forward-looking and successful businesses operating in the UK.

Dream Placement is a career development program that is designed to create a future workforce for the county. The goal is to equip participants with the skills, experience, and contacts to carry them through further education, university, their first job and beyond. It allows young people to explore the industries they feel passionate about and gives them a vision of what they can aspire to.

KBR welcomed two young people to join our team on the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) contract at the Sellafield Ltd site.

"It's been an absolute pleasure to host Izzy and Jess, they really grabbed the opportunity to learn more about our work with Sellafield and our partners," said Mark Cant, Social Impact Manager for Employability & Skills. "We set the scene at the start of the week with a visit to the Sellafield site, and spent time learning about the programme and project management, project controls, and quantity surveying expertise we bring to support major project delivery and the site's decommissioning."

"I already knew about construction and engineering opportunities through my school and the design, engineer, construct syllabus, but I've now learned more about the nuclear sector and some of the potential careers available to me when I finish sixth form," said Izzy.

" I will be forever grateful for this experience, I have gained not only experience and knowledge from this week, but also now understand how many amazing careers opportunities are in nuclear. The highlights have been the visit to the Sellafield site and meeting a network of great people," said Jess.

KBR's was appointed the integration partner on the Programme and Project Partners (PPP) contract at Sellafield in 2019. PPP is transforming major infrastructure delivery at Sellafield in the north of England - tackling the legacy of the site's past, building a capability for the future, and creating a clean and safe environment for generations to come.

"KBR is proud to support the local communities in which we operate. Our work with Sellafield Ltd and our partners provides us with a fantastic opportunity to make a difference and support a vast range of life changing social impact initiatives," said Suzanne Cathro, KBR's Government Solutions Head of Social Value.

"I'm proud of our team's role in the partnership's award-winning internship scheme which continues to provide first-class employment and career development opportunities to young people in the local community, our support for apprentices and graduates who are building their careers in the UK's nuclear industry, team members taking time to volunteer and support community organisations, and dedicating time to support reading attainment in local school children. Our collective efforts alongside our partners will ensure we leave a legacy for generations to come."
