Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak organized a briefing for a delegation of US senators visiting our country.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, Democratic Senators Richard Blumenthal and Sheldon Whitehouse, US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine Bridget Brink took part in the meeting.

Yermak said he is glad to welcome the US senators, who are visiting Ukraine not for the first time during the terrible war.

"I am glad to welcome you back to the Office of the President. Today, you will hear information directly from the front, which is very important in understanding the current situation," the head of the Office of the President said.

He thanked the senators for supporting Ukraine in the most crucial moments.

At the meeting, the senators were informed about the course of resistance to the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation. Representatives of Ukrainian intelligence and commanders of task forces briefed the US delegation on the situation near the borders of Ukraine and provided the assessment of prospects for further actions of Russian troops, the situation on the eastern front, the effectiveness of the use of air defense forces and means. The senators were also briefed on the needs of defense forces units to improve their effectiveness, in particular protection against enemy airstrikes.

Particular attention was paid to the protection of critical infrastructure objects, as they are hazardous man-made ones.

"We are concerned that these attacks will continue. You know that they were also on New Year's holidays, in particular on New Year's Eve. About 200 missiles and drones were launched then. They will not stop," Yermak said.

The head of the President's Office emphasized the importance of air defense, because after such strikes, millions of people remain without electricity, sometimes without water for several days, even though the relevant services, in particular Ukrenergo, are working around the clock to restore power supply to citizens as quickly as possible.
