Celebrating Excellence in Middle School Education: Rockwood NEA member Kristen Engle honored nationally as AMLE Educator of the Year

We are pleased to announce that Rockwood NEA member Kristen Engle, an English Language Arts teacher at Rockwood South Middle School, has been chosen by the Association of Middle Level Education (AMLE) for the national honor of 2024 Educator of the Year. This recognition is not just a personal milestone but a reflection of the dedication and passion she brings to her students and career. Being the first educator from Missouri to receive this distinguished award makes this moment even more special.

Kristen is a proud middle school teacher in the Rockwood School District who started her career as an educator in the Jefferson City School District. MNEA is proud to have her as a member of both the Rockwood NEA and Missouri NEA , who has served on the state MNEA Professional Practice Committee, where she collaborates with colleagues to advocate for the teaching profession, always striving for educational excellence.

The recognition from AMLE is more than just an accolade; it is an acknowledgment by her peers and a testament to the hard work and commitment she invests daily in students. Kristen's dedication to her students is reflected in her comments when receiving the award.

"...every student at the middle level deserves a champion - someone who believes in them reaching their highest potential personally and academically even when they might not believe in themselves. To be able to have opportunities to be that champion for middle school students year after year is priceless."

Kristen will be honored in November at the Conference for Middle Level Education in Columbus, Ohio.

Congratulations, Kristen Engle. Together, we can continue to celebrate the power of education and our impact on students' lives.
