Iran's foreign minister in Beirut for talks with high-ranking Lebanese officials

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian briefly spoke to media upon arrival in Lebanon.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian briefly spoke to media upon arrival in Lebanon.
He said, "My trip to Beirut, which is taking place at the invitation of the respected foreign minister of the Republic of Lebanon, is aimed at consultations on issues of bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the latest developments related to Palestine."
The foreign minister emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran will strongly keep up support for Lebanon's people, government, army and resistance movement, adding, "We invite all political factions in Lebanon to swiftly elect a president and conclude this political process through dialog and consensus."
"We have no doubt that different political groups in Lebanon will be able to elect a president competently and without any foreign meddling," the top diplomat added.
During the visit, Amirabdollahian will sit down for talks with his Lebanese counterpart, Abdullah Bou Habib, Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.
