Green Deal Funding Alert - April 2024

Page Content

This is the latest edition of the Green Deal Funding Alert, a monthly newsletter that keeps you informed about funding opportunities and initiatives that support sustainable development and the transition to climate neutrality. This edition provides information on how to contribute to shaping NetZeroCities' support for climate ambitious cities, host an event on EU cohesion policy, and receive financial support for energy transition projects or adaptation plans. Read on to find out how to benefit from these initiatives!

1. Contribute to shaping the Mission Platform's climate support - Complete the survey

The Mission Platform managed by the NetZeroCities consortium assists cities with achieving their climate objectives by offering tailored advice and support. This includes strategic innovation experiments, leveraging local ecosystems and fostering connections with various levels of governance. To better understand cities' needs and provide custom-made support, the Mission Platform experts have developed a needs-assessment survey.

Help shape the support offered by NetZeroCities by filling out the survey.

The survey is open until 17 May 2025.

Here you can find a detailed description of the various forms of support available through the NetZeroCities programme for cities that are not part of the Mission.

2. Cities Forum 2025 - Call for host city now open

Are you interested in hosting or co-organising an event on EU cohesion policy in your city?

The Cities Forum is an event organised by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) and focuses on the urban dimension of EU cohesion policy. The sixth Cities Forum will be held in June 2025, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders and beneficiaries, urban policymakers and practitioners for a green and interactive two to three day event on sustainable urban development in Europe. The event will be organised and financed by the European Urban Initiative but a contribution from the host city is expected.

Find out more about the event through the website and the background document for applicants. For more information about the call, please contact [email protected].

Calls for applications open until 13 May 2024 at 14:00 CEST.

3. EUI Innovative Actions - Third call for proposals

The third call for proposals organised by the European Urban Initiative - Innovative Actions (EUI-IA) will be looking for innovative projects focusing on the energy transition and technology in cities. Each project can receive up to EUR 5 million in European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) co-financing. The project must be delivered within 3.5 years.

The call for proposals opens in May 2024.

The call for proposals will be launched here.

4. Pathways2Resilience first open call - deadline extended

Kind reminder that applications for the Pathways2Resilience (P2R) first open call are still being accepted.

P2R aims to provide 40 regions or communities with financial support of up to EUR 210 000 through subgrant agreements for transformative projects lasting up to 18 months. Regions and communities will be assisted in developing effective and transformative adaptation plans. More information can be found here.
