Maintenance and repair to Highway 297 at Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area continues, with crews repairing expansion joints, milling, and paving on the Cumberland River Bridge. Milling and paving will continue on the remainder of Highway 297 within park boundaries after the bridge work is completed. It is expected that the milling/paving will conclude this fall at the east entrance.

In the interest of safety, the Upper Burke Field Parking Area located along Highway 297 (Leatherwood Road) in Big South Fork NRRA will be not be accessible for the duration of the Highway 297 road project.

Work is scheduled to take place Monday through Friday, daylight hours only (weather permitting). Although the road will remain open with single lane closures in place, use of pilot cars in addition to traffic signals may be required, expect minimal traffic delays during this time.
