Find out more about digital connectivity at information events

People in Staffordshire can find out more about how digital connectivity can benefit their lives at a series of drop-in information events starting in May.

The events will cover broadband and mobile connectivity, digital skills, digital inclusion and the digital telephone switchover.

Staffordshire County Council's digital infrastructure team will be on hand to answer any questions on issues affecting rural areas, technologies available now and in the future, the benefits of digital connectivity, useful resources and overcoming digital exclusion.

While the county council isn't responsible for the digital switchover, it wants to ensure people are fully informed and that people avoid potential scams.

The drop-in sessions will be held on the following dates and locations:

• Saturday May 11 - Perton Science Fair at Perton Library 9am to 3pm
• Monday May 20 - Leek Library 9am to 4pm
• Tuesday June 4 - Lichfield Library 9am to 4pm
• Thursday June 27 - Stafford Library 9am to 4pm
• Monday July 15 - Newcastle Library 9am to 4pm
• Friday July 19- Cannock Library 9am to 4pm
• Friday August 9 - Uttoxeter Library 9am to 4pm
• Tuesday August 20 - Tamworth Library 9am to 4pm
• Friday September 13 - Wombourne Library - 9.30am to 4pm (BT will be joining at this event to talk about the digital switchover)

Staffordshire County Council's cabinet member for the environment, infrastructure and climate change Simon Tagg said:

Anyone wanting to know more about how they can benefit from digital connectivity or ask any questions to our team should come along to one of the informal drop-in information sessions.

We've worked with communities across Staffordshire to enable them to connect to faster broadband speeds over the last few years and are continuing that support by informing people on how they can access them through their local provider.

Whilst the digital switchover isn't the responsibility of the county council, we want to ensure that people have the right information and are aware of potential scams during this period."
