The AVMA journals' modernization continues. Older issues of both JAVMA and AJVR (the American Journal of Veterinary Research) are being digitized, and readers can now enjoy the first fruits of that effort. All issues from the 1990s are now available to view online, at no cost.
Editor-in-Chief Dr. Lisa Fortier explained in a recent editorial that this monumental feat was driven by a task force of digitization experts from the library and publishing communities. Why? Because while the need to digitize the archives was clear, an efficient, practical road to achieve it was not.
With tens of thousands of pages involved, the task force formed a plan to digitize one decade of articles per year, starting with the 1990s and going back to 1970-the most popular years for article requests. And they've already delivered for the 1990s! Check out the JAVMA and AJVR issue archives.
