Charlie Powers Shines a Light on ODOT's Work

When highway technicians in our Defiance County maintenance garage asked Transportation Administrator Jason Hoschak if they could host a community open house, he knew exactly who could help with the job: ODOT District 1 Financial Analyst Charlie Powers.

Charlie lives in Defiance and was excited to spearhead an event in her hometown. She took it upon herself to form a committee, schedule meetings, take notes, delegate tasks, and do inquiries through emails and phone calls. This work resulted in a collaboration among multiple individuals and groups that pulled ideas and resources into our event that will help us accomplish our goal of educating the community and partnering with our local agencies to bolster our relationships.

Charlie rallied everyone to come together to host an event that the whole community enjoyed. It is estimated that 300-400 people came to the event. She was proud to show off the important work of ODOT to family members, friends, and everyone else from the community.

Below is some footage from the event. Check it out!
